Youth A.R.T. Core Committee

We are the core leaders of Youth A.R.T Initiative.

We are not elected or appointed by any authorities. We do not have legal positions, nor do we have ranks. Nevertheless, we highly value taking responsibilities matching with our skills and experiences in the area. That’s why each member within the core committee has an area of responsibility, which makes it necessary to have titles for the definition of roles.

All the leaders included in the core committee have joined into the group with their own free will and motivation. It’s not easy to join in our core committee, but it is not that difficult as well. Our common ultimate purpose is to take leading initiatives to make our organization more active and productive for the youth and with the youth.

Due to the fact that Youth A.R.T. does not have a legal body, we do not have a permanent list of committee. We are ready to include new leaders among us if you are ready to share your ideas and efforts with us!

Now, let’s get to know our core committee leaders closer. Please note that all the texts and visuals introducing each member are provided by her/himself.

I have had quite a lot of experiences in organizing meetings, reaching more and more youngsters to make them aware of the youth projects, coordinating and leading projects. Personally, I am interested in creative drama activities, so I am on the way to develop my “drama” experiences and skills for youth work as well as for teaching…”

Ms. Damla TEZEL
She is responsible for multimedia tools as well as facilitating in-group activities.

“I work as an English teacher at a private primary school in Istanbul. My first encounter with youth projects dates back to the November of 2008, when I met Youth A.R.T and became a member. Personally, my interest areas range but main focuses are on the technology and visual arts. Therefore, I generally hold the visual and media aspect of Youth A.R.T. I had drama experience and education, as an intense interest I am dealing with photography, English literature and fine arts. I can frankly say that it is when I got involved in Youth A.R.T. then I gained an intercultural vision and a wide-open window to the world of creativity.”

Mr. Hasan Volkan ÇELİK
He is responsible for coordinating international projects.

“I am an English teacher and also a student of Business Administration, currently working in Istanbul. My first project was a training course about human rights in March 2007 in Albania and since then I’ve been into Youth Projects. I was in the group who stood up and said “Let’s establish our own organization to get Youth in Action” which led to YOUTH A.R.T. What is the difference between us and the people we criticize if we don’t take responsibility and take action to change things which most people are trying to do just by talking?” I am here as I want to show it.

Mr. Burak ÖZKAN

“I study Law at Istanbul University. live in Istanbul. I became a part of Youth A.R.T family 2 years ago. My basic task is working on online to reach more people promoting Youth A.R.T. Initiative. As an active student, I read a lot, especially about web design trying to improve myself and Youth A.R.T. I think Youth A.R.T. has the atmosphere where you can express your ideas and skills, and eventually raise the awareness of diversities in the society. I have made many new friends in Youth A.R.T. I learnt to have fun in different ways, to value people with what they produce. Patience and enthusiasm are shared among all Youth A.R.T. members!”
